This week in Literacy we read a story called How The Beetle Got Her Colours. We did a guided drawing of a beetle. Here are a few samples of the drawings that were created:
Our new words for next week are:
- where
- kick
- did
- jump
- I
We learned how to print the letter Yy. The letter Yy acts as a consonant at the beginning of a word and as a vowel in the middle or the end of a word.
We did "Making Words" with the letters: o s m k y e n. See what words your child can make using these letters at home.
In Math we have been working on measurement. We are learning how to measure items using different objects. We learnt to measure tip to tip, not to overlap, and to choose a measuring object of the same size. We also learned how to put objects in order from shortest to tallest.
We also played a game called Helicopter Rescue on the Smartboard. You can play this game at home by Googling "Helicopter Rescue Maths Game".
In Social Studies, we have been learning about different social groups to which we belong. We started with our family, and moved on to our school, community and city.
We have also been learning about urban and rural communities. Ask your child about the different qualities of an urban or rural community. We also started to build our own community in the classroom. Here are some of our drawings of communities:
In Gym we have been playing with skipping ropes. It has been a lot of fun!
Have a great weekend!
